According to the Detroit Free Press, ESPN will head to East Lansing next Saturday for “College GameDay” when the 5-1 Spartans host the 6-0 Wisconsin Badgers at 8PM ET.

“Any time you can give GameDay on your campus it’s an exciting opportunity,” said Michigan State athletics director Mark Hollis. “It provides an opportunity to take a football game which usually sits in an three-and-half hour window and exposes Michigan State University and our great campus across the national all day long.

“I have great respect for the guys and gals on the GameDay set. It’s going to be a fun time.”

This marks the fifth visit that the World Wide Leader will make to the East Lansing with the last visit coming back in 2005.

Hollis said he’s still trying to determine where GameDay will set up but it’s more than likely to be on the west side of the Stadium.

“We’ve had two locations already,” Hollis said. “We’re looking at the two priority options as well as something at Munn Field. We used the Dem Hall field before and we’ve used over by the power plant.

“Being a night game, one of the images that we like, with the Glow Green campaign going on with homecoming, the west side of the stadium is all lit up with a nice green-lit background and we feel that side of the stadium would really give a positive nighttime feel.”

Hollis will also have to set up a celebrity host for the broadcast. Early candidates for Hollis seem to include Kirk Gibson and Magic Johnson.

“You’ve got Gibby, you’ve got Magic, you’ve got a few other folks,” Hollis said. “Calls have already been made.”
