The Spartans got some bad news Monday as starting right tackle Skyler Burkland is gone for the rest of the season after breaking a bone in his left leg during Saturday’s 31-13 loss to Notre Dame.
MSU head coach Mark Dantonio confirmed the news WJR 760-AM show host Paul W. Smith.
Burkland, a redshirt freshman from Sunbury, Ohio was hurt in the second quarter when players from both Notre Dame and Michigan State rolled up on his leg. Junior college transfer Fou Fonoti who replaced Burkland after the injury Saturday is expected to be the starter going forward.
