Michigan looks to continue their momentum from last weekends 36-14 victory over Purdue as they take on the Iowa Hawkeyes from Kinnick Stadium.
Despite a 5-3 record for the Hawkeyes, the Wolverines certainly have a big task in hand as Kinnick is always a tough place to play at and Iowa is coming of a bad loss to the Gophers last week.
With that said, here’s what Brady Hoke and the Wolverines needs to do this weekend in order to leave Iowa with a victory and keep their Big Ten hopes alive.
Watch out for Hawkeye RB Marcus Coker
Even though Iowa is 10th in the Big Ten in terms of rushing (159.1 yards), the 6-foot, 230-pound sophomore Marcus Coke can still cause fits for the Wolverines on the ground. The Iowa running back currently leads the conference in rushing (121.1 yards) and is coming of a very good performance against the Gophers last weekend.
Kenny Demens needs a big game
If Iowa’s game plan is going to revolve around Marcus Coker (which it probably will) Kenny Demens is going to be the guy that ends up destroying that Hawkeye game plan or helping it.
Demens currently leads the Wolverines with 10 tackles and it’s going to be important for him as well as the rest of the linebackers to come in today and continue their strong performance from last weekend against Purdue.
Ignore the Kinnick Crowd
This may be easier said than done. Any opposing playing in Kinnick will tell you that it’s one of the toughest places to play not only in the Big Ten but in the entire country.
The stands are close to the benches and the Hawkeye fans are going to be angry after last weeks one point loss to the Gophers.
