The Detroit Lions are undoubtedly remaining under the control of the Ford family.
According to the team, William Clay Ford Srβs widow Martha Ford takes over the controlling interest of the team after her husbandβs death over the weekend.
βPursuant to long-established succession plans, Mr. Fordβs controlling interest in the Lions passes to Mrs. Martha Ford,β the team said in a statement. βShe and her four children will continue to be involved in the ownership of the franchise, as they have during Mr. Fordβs tenure.β
So essentially not a whole lot will change. Bill Ford Jr. is still the vice chairman of the company and will more than likely assume a bigger voice within the organization. And despite the statement not mentioning who now has the firing/hiring power youβd have to think thatβs something that Bill Ford Jr. now assumes as well.
