Round One

The San Diego Chargers struck Notre Dame Gold in the first round in the form of defensive tackle Jerry Tillery with the 28th overall pick. Tillery could have easily gone somewhere in the top-15 however teams were having some kind second thought surrounding the Fighting Irish product having some interests outside of football.

Whatever though, the Chargers weren’t buying it, they needed a defensive tackle and low and behold they get a steal with one of the best in the 2019 Draft.

Rounds Two and Three

The Chargers solidified their safety position on day two nabbing Delaware safety Nasir Adderley who like Tillery was taken well beyond when he probably should have been selected. The guy was a stud in the Senior Bowl and will form a pretty formidable secondary alongside Derwin James who the Chargers also got tremendous value on in last year’s draft.

As far as Trey Pipkins goes it seems like given what the Chargers were already able to do up to this point and given their already pretty loaded roster they could take a chance on a small school guy with upside.

Rounds Four through Seven

Value, value, value has been the name of the game for the Chargers during the first two days of this year’s draft so with that why stop that theme now?

Saturday, the Bolts followed up a strong day one and two with another huge value selection in Drue Tranquill whose exceptional athleticism made him one of the best coverage linebackers in all of college football.

Meanwhile at 212 the Chargers took Emeke Egbule out of Houston who’ll give opposing offensive lines fits as he’s been deadly off the ball when it comes to getting at the quarterback from the linebacker spot.

And finally, Los Angeles made the most of their final pick in the seventh round by taking Cincinnati’s Cortez Broughton who could certainly be a mainstay on the team. Broughton will inject his fair share of interior pressure on that defensive line and certainly won’t take any downs off when it comes to getting at the QB.
