Monday the Lions tied up their final loose end from this past draft when they signed Riley Reiff to a four-year rookie contract worth and estimated $8 million dollars with $6.5 million guaranteed.
The signing allowed Reiff to report to rookie training camp today along with the other Lions draft picks.
Detroit getting Reiff under contract is obviously significant but it may be even more significant considering the first-year offensive lineman out of Iowa is slated to get plenty of playing time in 2012.
In other rookie news, the Lions also announced that fellow 2012 draft picks Ryan Broyles (WR) and Chris Greenwood (CB) will begin camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Greenwood has been suffering from and abdominal injury while Broyles is still recovering from an ACL injury which he suffered his senior season at Oklahoma.
Since Broyles will not be ready for the start of camp (and after releasing Aaron Berry) the Lions signed former St. Louis Rams WR Dominique Curry. The 24-year-old Curry joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2010 where he played in 16 games last season (mostly on special teams) recording 10 tackles and zero receptions.
