There’s nothing like going to a dermatologist for a migraine or a dentist for a broken finger or hiring a career offensive coach as a defensive assistant.
Well… that’s exactly what the Lions did today when they hired former Texans offensive coordinator George Godsey as a defensive assistant according to Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com via NBC Sports.
His official title with the organization is defensive assistant/special projects which I hope means fetching coffee or helping Bobby Boucher refill the water coolers since the guy hasn’t coached on the defensive side of the ball in any capacity throughout his career.
He was a former coach within the New England organization while Bob Quinn was serving in the front office so if you’re looking for a connection, there it is.
