Sunday the Lions announced they would retain former New York Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi as a special advisor to team president Rob Wood according to Tim Twentyman.
The #Lions have hired Ernie Accorsi to stay on in their front office as a special advisor to team president Rod Wood.

Accorsi had most recently served on an advisory board for the Lions in their search for a new GM that ultimately yielded Bob Quinn from the New England Patriots.
On the surface, the hiring of the 74-year old Accorsi may not seem like much, not when you consider the hire they made a couple of days prior with Quinn. However there has been some speculation that with Accorsi being retained head coach Jim Caldwell’s job is probably safe. At least that’s what Jason La Canfora thinks:
Lions hiring of Accorsi latest indicator Jim Caldwell very likely safe. His past searches have been pragmatic in that regard as well…

Of course though the Lions are sticking to their guns when they say the new GM, in this case Quinn will be making the final call on Caldwell’s future with the team.
Accorsi said Caldwell's future will be determined by Quinn and we'll have to ask Quinn about that.

Quinn is reportedly meeting with the incumbent Lions head coach today in Allen Park to apparently discuss the future of the team and whether or not Caldwell will be a part of it. Or so that what we’ve heard.
