Detroit Lions president Rod Wood has been divulging himself into the real issues for the team this offseason since taking over for Tom Lewand and his breathalyzer last year.
So what are those real issues?
How about the notion of the Lions possibly getting cheerleaders in the future?
Hereโs what Wood said about that possibility according to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.
โItโs a very popular question and itโs one that, as I said before, is not off the table and Iโm taking strong consideration,โ Wood said during the teamโs member summit for season-ticket holders at Ford Field. โStay tuned.โ
Previously the Lionsโ stance has been a big no to cheerleaders. In fact Lewand back in 2014 told Mlive.com that the team was โproudโ to be one of six franchises in the NFL who donโt employ a cheerleading squad. As far as the idea (and possibility) goes I wonโt comment on the irony in regards to the president actually being named Rod Wood or something like this happening for the first time in franchise history while having a female owner.
However I will say I really couldnโt care either way IF the Lions get cheerleaders. I do have a couple of demands thoughโฆ
- DO NOT bring back high school cheerleading squads like the team had back during the Silverdome days. Thereโs nothing creepier than underage girls dancing around in front of a 300 pound drunk guy who scored front row seats from work.
- Donโt rip off the cheerleaders with shitty pay or insult them with handbooks telling them how to take a shower or why loofahs are bad.
Anyways Wood also talked about improving Ford Fieldโs Wi-Fi capabilities because you knowโฆ it is 2016 and if the teamโs going to play like garbage fans may as well be able to surf the net.
