Lions

So it looks as though the Detroit Lions will add cheerleaders starting next season according to a statement released by the team Monday.

โ€œThe Ford Family is unwavering in their commitment to improving the Detroit Lions fan experience on and off the field,โ€ said Detroit Lions Team President Rod Wood. โ€œAfter thorough consideration and receiving input from our fans through season ticket member surveys and focus groups, we believe that this is an opportunity to elevate our game day entertainment.โ€

The team will also add a new coach as Rebecca Girard-Smoker has been hired as the director of the Detroit Lionsโ€™ cheerleaders and serve as the squads coach.

Iโ€™m still trying to figure out whatโ€™s more ironic with this newsโ€ฆ the Lions getting cheerleaders with a female at the helm of the team in Martha Firestone Ford or Rod Wood making the announcement.

Anyways, there are only six teams left in the NFL who donโ€™t currently employ cheerleading squads, the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
