If there’s on thing that can sour a good game, especially on the grand stage of the Final Four it’s controversy, which is exactly what we got in the finish of the Auburn/Virginia game from Minneapolis.

In the closing seconds, Kyle Guy was fouled on a three point attempt as the Cavaliers were down by two sending him to the line for three shots to take the lead. With ice water in his veins, Guy made all three shots to give Virginia the lead after they managed to bone away a 10 point lead with just over five minutes left in the second half.

Was this a foul? Yeah it was but given where we were at this point in the game guys have gotten away with much more.

What’s much more egregious was the missed double dribble committed by Ty Jerome

If that was was correctly made, Auburn gets the ball back, up two with very little time remaining. This in retrospect was much bigger than the foul call that sent Guy to the line.

Nonetheless though you really have to appreciate what Guy was able to do though with those free throws, especially after Virginia was ready to choke this one away like we’ve seen them do so many times before.
