Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel apologized to Ohio State fans in his first public speaking appearance since being suspended for withholding information from the NCAA and Ohio State University.
Speaking to a group of about 400 fans at a luncheon sponsored by the NFL Football Hall of Fame, Tressel began by stating that he couldn’t say much about the recent allegations surrounding his program at Ohio State.
He then said, “I sincerely apologize for what we’ve been through.”
According to the Associated Press, Tressel received a polite standing ovation as soon as he entered the room at at Tozzi’s on 12th restaurant.
This past week, Tressel was suspended for two games next season and fined $250,000 for not informing the University about a few of his players that were selling memorabilia to a Columbus tattoo parlor owner.
The NCAA is still likely to launch an investigation into the Ohio State Football program and could very well implement more sanctions on Tressel.
