A day after the Lions learned that their acquisition of Ronnie Brown from the Eagles had been voided, potentially more devastating news has come across the wire for Detroit.
According to CBSSports.com writer Mike Freeman, Lions RB Jahvid Best has been advised to sit out the rest of the season after suffering his second concussion of the year this past Sunday against San Francisco.
Lions RB Jahvid Best has been advised by people close to him to “strongly consider sitting out the year” after suffering his second concussion of the season. As Freeman noted, Best was forced to miss the final four games of his college career due to concussion-like symptoms. Speculation is that further concussion issues could wreck his career.
The Lions’ running game was already suffering prior to the injury to Best, this new development could make the Lions desperate.
With James Harrison apparently being hurt and a non factor so far this season (his failed physical ended up voiding the Brown trade) the team could turn to practice squad back James Davis who was just signed to the team Wednesday. He was previously an undrafted free agent out of Clemson.
In terms of this weekend against Atlanta, Best hasn’t been ruled out of the game. Yet with the new concussion measures the league has taken, Best would still need to pass a concussion test in order to be cleared to return to practice which hasn’t happened thus far.
