Once the NFL finally agrees to a new Collective Bargaining Agreement and free agency can finally begin, one thing will be missing. That thing is the Brett Favre watch which plaques sports network television as they set up shop outside Favres house or at the local high schools hoping to get the inside scoop on whether or not Favre will retire or return.

After a disastrous year with the Minnesota Vikings last year where Favre saw his consecutive games streak come to an end and the Vikings be worse overall with Favre as the QB.

The last we heard from Favre is that he was filing his retirement papers with the league back in January.

But is this truly the end of Brett Favre?

One former team executive however thinks that Favre’s career might not be over just yet…

“I do think Favre would be interested in talking to a team about returning,” Gil Brandt said on the league’s website during his weekly chat. “But I don’t see a team out there right now that would bring him back as a starter.”

Favre’s former team the Minnesota Vikings finally drafted a QB for the future in Christian Ponder. It is yet to be seen on whether or not Ponder will start out of the gate for the Vikings. Could Favre step in and be a starting QB for the Vikings or anyteam that is trying to develop a young QB?

Said Brandt: “It’s awfully hard for (Favre) to go to a team and be a backup. The Vikings must start Christian Ponder this season to get him some experience. And they’re not going to get Favre in there to babysit Ponder.”
