The Wings defeated the Philadelphia Flyers via 4-3 visa shootout from London, Ontario in their second preseason game of the year.

Red Wings defenseman Ian White was able to tally a goal in the third period then again in the shootout to seal the victory for Detroit.

Valterri Filppula also had a goal for the Wings while Darren Helm was able to open the game with an unassisted shorthanded goal at 11:08 in the first period.

The Wings looked as if they wouldn’t need the shootout to beat the Flyers however James van Riemsdyk and Wayne Simmonds were able to tie things up for Philadelphia with less than three minutes left in the third period.

These same two teams will meet again Friday night when the Wings host their first preseason game of the year.
