It seems as though there is a run on groin injuries on the Detroit Red Wings as forward Darren Helm will also be sidelined with the injury.

Helm injured the groin during Thursday’s practice and will miss Friday night’s game in Chicago and Saturday at home against St. Louis.

To take Helm spot the Wings have recalled Gustav Nyquist from Grand Rapids.

“We’re hoping the young kids (Nyquist and Joakim Andersson) will give us a boost (Friday),” Holland said, “and we’ll be able to spend more time in the other team’s zone than our zone.”

To make room for Nyquist the Wings put forward Tomas Holmstrom on the short-term injured reserve as he is also dealing with a groin injury.

As of now though it’s unclear how head coach Mike Babcock will juggle Helm’s line with Cleary and Miller which has been one of the better lines the past few games.

GM Ken Holland says Helm is listed as day-to-day.
