UPDATE: The Lions will hold a presser at 2PM ET with team president Tom Lewand and GM Martin Mayhew which more than likely means Mayhew keeps his job.
After reportedly being ‘on the fence’ heading into Monday morning, the Detroit Lions dropped the axe on head coach Jim Schwartz after a disappointing end to the season.

The move also comes just minutes before the team was scheduled to gather for a end of the season meeting.
According to Kyle Meinke of Mlive, the Ford family now looks to hire their 17th head coach in the 50 years they’ve owned the team.
