Gary Bettman

Not a fan of NHL commissioner Gary Bettman? Well we’ve got some bad news for you.

According to SI.com’s Michael Farber, who cites sources the NHL and commissioner Gary Bettman have agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in place through the 2022 season.

Bettman, whose been at the helm of the NHL since 1993 has certainly seen the highs and lows throughout his tenure. Since taking over, Bettman has expanded the league from 22 teams to 30 and increased revenue making the NHL a multi-billion dollar business.

However the 63-year old isn’t without his vast criticisms which include three separate labor lockouts, at times less than lucrative media deals, promotion within the United States and questionable expansion sites such as Arizona, Atlanta, Florida, Southern California and possibly Las Vegas.
