Mel Farr, the former Lions first round pick in the 1967 NFL Draft turned car dealership owner died Monday according to various reports.
Farr, who accumulated 3072 rushing yards in 69 for the Lions between 1967 and 1973 was the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1967. H also earned two trips to the Pro Bowl in 67′ and 70′.
After his player career ended, Farr opened a number of Ford Dealerships in the Metro Detroit Area often times appearing in commercials playing a superhero called ‘Mel Farr Superstar’ who would ‘fight high prices’.
The cause of death hasn’t been released however Farr’s daughter Monet in recent years announced that her father was possibly suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy or CTE a chronic degenerative brain disease.
