It is September which means baseball season is damn near over, oh wait, I forgot they play in October for some odd reason. Well as we brace ourselves for the post-season it’s time to take a look at who is in and out this year in Major League Baseball.
Let’s start with the A.L. East. The unlikely favorite of winning the A.L. East is the Tampa Bay Rays, they’re 74-61 and are 9 games out of first and even 7.5 games out of winning the A.L. wild-card spot. Now for the Rays to have any chance at the wild-card or the East, the Yankees or Red Sox just have to be like robots and go into complete shutdown and that’s just not going to happen. Why? Because the Yankees play half of their remaining games at home you know the place where 12 year olds can hit home runs almost every time they step up to the plate. Don’t believe me, the Yankees have scored more runs than any team in the majors this year. That just seems odd to me. Then we have the Red Sox who currently are 1.5 games in front of the Yankees. The Red Sox play 6 games against the Toronto Blue Jays you know the team they played 12 times this year and beat them 8 times. Their chances of beating them look good especially since they’ve been on a tear as of late. And then after the Blue Jays they play the second worst team in baseball, the Baltimore Orioles 7 times. So goodbye Rays and say hello to the Red Sox winning the East by 2 games and the Yankees walking away and into October with the wild-card crown.
