Michigan may finally have a solution for the kicking position going into next season.
According to Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press by way of Scout.com, West Hills Chaminade College (located in California) Prep kicker Matt Goudis has given the University of Michigan his verbal commitment.
Here is an excerpt from the article…

According to the Los Angeles Times, Goudis kicked nine field goals and made 37 extra points last season. Scout rates him as the No. 5 kicker in the 2011 class, and rivals.com has him No. 12.
Goudis, who previously committed to Boise State, is UM’s 14th commitment which like Snyder said is pretty surprising considering the uncertainty surrounding the coaching situation at the University of Michigan.
Currently Michigan still has kicker Brendan Gibbons under scholarship. Gibbons is NCAA eligible for another three season.
Hopefully Goudis can come in and tighten up the kicking game which among other things was a huge need for this team. There is absolutely no reason for Michigan to go into next season with so much uncertainty at a given position, especially at kicker which is a very undervalued position in college.
Michigan can ill afford to continue going for those fourth and long’s due to the lack of a kicking game.
