If I had a nickel for every comment over the last week I read on social media about Detroit Lions fans that are just happy to be in the playoffs, I’d be able to retire at 25 years old and outlive my cash in the bank. Detroit Lions fans, you should demand more out of this organization than just making the playoffs.
The attitude of just being happy to be here should have ended decades ago. This organization has made the playoffs three of the last six years and have been bounced routinely without as much as a whimper.
If you want the Detroit Lions to ever be better than they are now, you have to demand more out of the organization. If you, the customer, doesn’t demand a better product, there is no motivation for the business, the Detroit Lions, to increase the quality of their product. Don’t be naive that the Detroit Lions don’t have members of the business side of their front office trolling social media to gauge fan opinion.
Guess who has more playoff appearances at Ford Field than the Detroit Lions? Two NFL teams and eight college sports teams, just to name a few:
- Seattle Seahawks (Your opponent this week)
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- University of North Carolina Men’s Basketball
- Michigan State University Men’s Basketball
- Villanova University Men’s Basketball
- University of Connecticut Men’s Basketball
- Boston College Men’s Ice Hockey
- University of Wisconsin Men’s Ice Hockey
- Miami University Men’s Ice Hockey
- Rochester Institute of Technology Men’s Ice Hockey
Demand excellence and it will be the expectation. If you don’t change your expectations, the organization has no reason to change theirs. Demand winning and it should follow.
