Going into this off-season the Wings certainly have their fair share of roster decisions to make. Two of those decisions have to do with two longtime Red Wings in goaltender Chris Osgood and forward Kris Draper.

If they want them the Wings can sign them but at what price? Draper has indicated that he would like to play at least another year and Osgood still seems unsure if he even wants to come back. Meanwhile Jan Mursak seems ready to be a full time member of the Wings next season while the team would also like to keep one if not both players in Patrick Eaves and Drew Miller.

I also wouldn’t expect a decision on Draper and Osgood to come anytime soon from the Wings. General manager Ken Holland has indicated that they will have a better gage on the situation after he meets with his scouts and front office staff on June 15th and 16th.

“I want to hear what everyone has to say,” Holland said. “We know Kris wants to play another year. Ozzie hasn’t said anything about his future, but if we were interested in him, I’m certain he’d have interest in playing.

“Both have been around here a long, long time. I can come up with lots of reasons why we should have them on our team, and also reasons why not. It’s going to be a very difficult decision.”

With that said I wouldn’t expect a decision until the middle of June at the very earliest.
