UPDATE: Well apparently that second cancelled flight helped signify that Whisenhunt wasn’t coming to Detroit considering he agreed to become the new head coach of the Titans. End transmission.

UPDATE: According to the Detroit News’ Chris McCosky the Lions have an interview set up with Ken Whisenhunt on Tuesday.

UPDATE: For some reason the flight in question to San Diego was removed from the FlightAware.com website. Not quite sure what that means but Mike Silver of NFL.com posted this to Twitter just minutes ago.

With the elimination of the San Diego Chargers from the playoffs yesterday, Whisenhunt Watch for the Detroit Lions officially got underway as the team was now able to sign the offensive coordinator who is believed to be the odds on favorite to replace Jim Schwartz.
So with Ken Whisenhunt free to hire, the Lions may be ready to strike and get him to Detroit as soon as possible.
According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Lions apparently had a plane ready to fly to San Diego this morning but hasn’t yet taken off from Detroit.

It also may be important to note that the plane is owned by WCF Aircraft Corp. which is based in Detroit, Michigan and bares the same initials as Lions owner William Clay Ford. Either way though you have to wonder what the delay could be if this plane is in fact owned by the Lions and sitting ready to pick up Whisenhunt. Adam Schefter and ESPN reported earlier that in edition to the Lions the Titans are also very much in play for the Whisenhunt to become the new head coach in Tennessee.
