Spanish Football President Luis Rubiales, who became the center of controversy after forcibly kissing Jenni Hermoso during Spainโ€™s World Cup celebration has finally resigned from his position.

Rubiales made his intentions to step down known during an interview with Piers Morgan saying โ€œYes, Iโ€™m going to. Yes, Iโ€™m going to [resign]. Iโ€™m going to, because I cannot continue my work.โ€

Rubiales also cited conversations with his father and daughters as further reasoning for his decision to step down and widespread condemnation and pressure to do so.

โ€œYeah, my fatherโ€ฆ my daughters. I spoke with them. Itโ€™s notโ€ฆ they know itโ€™s not a question about meโ€ฆ some friends, really close to me. and they said to me, โ€˜Luis, now you have to focus on your dignity and to continue your lifeโ€ฆโ€

Rubiales can point to coming to Jesusโ€™ moments all he wants, the fact of the matter is he was already suspending him for 90 pending their own investigation. More importantly, 56 players, including all of the 23-strong World Cup-winning squad, signed the joint statement refusing to step foot on the pitch for Spain if the 46-year-old Rubiales didnโ€™t step down effectively taking the power away from the shit stain themselves.

Good riddance.
