The Women’s first team for Detroit City FC continued to roll Wednesday night taking down the previously undefeated Corktown AFC 3-0 from The Corner Ballpark in Detroit.

Le Rouge captain Sarah Huge — who didn’t play in City’s 6-1 win over Lansing over the weekend made her return in a Huge way (sorry…) getting DCFC on the board early with a beautiful diving header from the far post. Not long after Huge’s tally, Kenna White padded Detroit’s lead with a nice chip shot over the Corktown keeper as City took a 2-0 advantage into the half.

Coming out of the break, Detroit City continued a dominating press giving Corktown very little to work with. Frustrations for Corktown began to boil over a bit too with head coach Aaron Roy looking increasingly bitter getting into multiple somewhat heated conversations with the referee along the touchline.

In the 46′, Tatiana Mason would sub in for Huge and would make her mark on the match six minutes later putting DCFC up 3-0 on a free kick that made it’s way around the Corktown wall finding the far corner.

So far this season, Detroit City looks like they’re playing completely outside the league as they’ve for the most part been dominating their opposition from start to finish. Even in their opening match against Muskegon, the 2-1 final really didn’t truly reflect how much City had things in total control.

In any sense, it’s becoming ever so apparent the type of competitive culture Detroit City is building throughout the entirely of the club which is a devastating, lockdown defense.

Meanwhile for Corktown, as Aaron Roy said after the game it’s back to the drawing board as they prepare for another tough matchup, this time on the road against the Midwest United on June 4.

As for Detroit City, they make their way back to Keyworth this Saturday to take on the Chicago Mustangs which will be televised on TV20 in the Metro Detroit area.
