Could Detroit City FC be in play for attacking midfielder Alistair Coote?

According to the Irish Independent, DCFC under new head coach Danny Dichio has reportedly expressed interest in the 25-year-old who recently wrapped up his third season with Bohemian FC and is expected to depart with the Boh’s addition of Dayle Rooney.

John O’Sullivan and Dean Williams have moved to city rivals Shelbourne, while Ali Coote and Kris Twardek were let go. English non-league side Oldham Athletic are keen on Coote but US outfit Detroit City, managed by Danny Dichio, have also expressed an interest.

Coote was a regular fixture for Bohemian at the beginning of the season starting in 16 of the first 21 league games. However, he seemingly fell out of favor with head coach Declan Devine taking on more of a late-match sub in the second half of the year.

In 30 matches in 2023, Coote had six goals and five assists.

Aside from announcing player options being picked up and the return of Nate Steinwascher on a new two-year deal yesterday, Detroit City FC has remained relatively quiet so far when it comes to announcing new roster additions for the upcoming 2024 USL Championship season.
