According to Kyle Meinke of AnnArbor.com, Michigan QB Denard Robinson has filed paperwork to the NFL Draft Advisory Board but wants to make things very clear to Michigan fans… He expects to be back with the Wolverines for his senior season.
“Oh yeah, I expect to be back,” Robinson said. “That’s it.”
Robinson was speaking from the team hotel in New Orleans as they prepare to take on Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl on Tuesday. This is also the first time Robinson spoke after head coach Brady Hoke announced that he (Robinson) was assessing his NFL draft stock, a common practice among elite junior players. Michigan fans might also remember defensive tackle Mike Martin filing the same paperwork that is totally non-binding and permits the player to return to their college team if they so wish.
“It was a decision that I was just like, I put my name out there (to) see what happens,” Robinson said. “And whatever happens, happens.”
If Robinson were to enter the draft it would be my belief that he would fall to the fifth round given his still suspect arm and inexperience working in a pro-style offense.
