UPDATE @ 4:18PM ET: Despite a good preseason the Lions have cut WR Matt Willis and S Tyrell Johnson. The team also released OL Jake Scott and plan to release KR/PR steven Miller according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
The #Lions also are releasing OL Jake Scott. He spent a lot of time with the first-team offense this summer, played pretty well.

UPDATE @ 2PM ET: The Lions have cut ties with Ron Bartell and safety Amari Spievey who was the teams third round pick in 2010. The team also cut Blake Clingan.
Today the Lions make the final cutdown to 53 as they begin preparations for Week 1 next Sunday against Minnesota at Ford Field.
Here’s who was given their walking papers as of this morning:
- Rookie 6th round pick Corey Fuller
- UDFA LB Jon Morgan
- UDFA OL Darren Keyton
- Fifth round pick last season CB Chris Greenwood out of Albion.
- OT Kevin Haslam
- Rookie 7th round pick Brandon Hepburn.
All guys released so far are eligible for the 8 practice squad spots available. Chris Greenwood should be given for the PS if he is able to clear waivers. Another thing of note is the Lions parted ways with 2 of their total 9 draft picks this season.
