Thursday Lions WR Calvin Johnson was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month after catching 32 passes for 619 yards in the month of November. In addition to this Johnson averages more than 19 yards per catch to go along with his three touchdowns.

According to the NFL’s Randy Liu via ProFootballTalk.com:

Johnson’s 154.8 receiving yards per game are the most in a single month since Lance Alworth posted 156.3 yards per game over a month in 1963 for the Chargers.

With these NFC honors Johnson becomes only the second Lions player in the franchises history to be given the honor.

That other player? How about Hall of Famer Barry Sanders.

Of course this accomplishment is going to further the debate as to whether or not theMadden Curseis real or it has been broken by Megatron? Needless to say though despite this news, the Lions are still not going to the playoffs this season.
