Chris Paul finally got his wish and it looks like the New Orleans Hornets can finally move on.
Wednesday night it was announced that the Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers had struck a deal that would send Paul to the Clippers for three players and a draft pick.
Here is the break down of the trade…
New Orleans gets:
Eric Gordon
Chris Kaman
Al-farouq Aminu
2012 1st round draft pick (Minnesota’s)
LA Clippers get:
Chris Paul
2 future 2nd round draft picks.
With Blake Griffin and the addition of Paul you have to assume that Clippers are a team that can make some serious headway this upcoming season.
Here is what the Clippers’ starting lineup could look like opening night…
PG – Chris Paul
SG – Randy Foye/Mo Williams
SF – Caron Butler
PF – Blake Griffin
C – DeAndre Jordan
Off the bench Eric Bledsoe and Ryan Gomes will take the more prominent roles while veteran Chauncey Billups (who was just picked up by the Clippers after being Amnestied by the Knicks) could find himself let go once again.
This trade also works out well for the Hornets since they get something in return for Paul who was just going to walk at the end of the season. There’s probably a good chance that Kaman gets dealt near the deadline and if the Hornets finish near the bottom of the standings, they could find themselves with two top 15 picks in next year’s draft.
