Charlotte Flair, arguably the greatest women’s wrestler of all time, made her return to the ring tonight in the wake of Ronda Rousey’s submission victory over Raquel Rodriguez on SmackDown to retain her women’s title.

Flair’s return had been expected for some time now since her long seven-month absence from television. It was also expected we’d see a challenge for the title, maybe at the upcoming Royal Rumble. What wasn’t expected, however, was not only Flair challenging the defending champion on SmackDown tonight, but Rousey ultimately accepting the challenge.

Unfortunately, for Rousey things didn’t go well for the defending champion, as Flair scored the pin after a failed attempt by Rousey at an arm bar which in turn made Flair a 14-time women’s champ.

it was obviously quite the return and I’m sure one that is going to come with mixed feelings considering Flair and Rousey is pretty polarizing among wrestling fans. However, no matter what you think of either superstar, it sets up a massive rematch at one of the premier WWE upcoming PPVs.
