It appears as though Chance Ruffin will be the player to be named later to complete the Doug Fister/David Pauley trade the Tigers made with the Seattle Mariners reports Jason A. Churchill of Prospect Insider. In addition to Ruffin the Mariners also received LHP Charlie Furbush, OF Casper Wells and Double-A third base prospect Francisco Martinez.

According to MLB rules Ruffin cannot officially be named as part of the trade until August 15th since players cannot be traded until they’ve been under a professional contract for a minimum of one year.

The Tigers drafted the 23-year-old out of the University of Texas in the 2010 draft after receiving the pick from the Angels as compensation for them signing Fernando Rodney. Ruffin has a 2.00 ERA and an impressive 11.4 K/9 rate in in 40 career minor league relief appearances (31 at Double-A, nine at Triple-A).

He made his major league debut on July 25th.
