After a report dropped yesterday that all but officially named Jim Harbaugh the next head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, the Michigan head coach informed the Wolverines that he’s returning to Ann Arbor next season according to ESPN’s Adam Shefter.
So Michigan is “elated” by Harbaugh’s decision which is fine, I guess… Although the timing and perception of the way this whole saga eventually transpired are odd. For a guy like Harbaugh who made it pretty clear that he wanted to go back to the NFL only to have that not come to fruition after a second interview with the Vikings leads one to believe the NFL still didn’t see much value in him as a head coach.
Ironically now Michigan, who cut the guy’s salary last offseason, is now pleased to be the consolation prize to Harbaugh’s coaching aspirations.
