UPDATE: Brandon Marshall wasn’t done talking. Here’s more quotes from the outspoken Bears wide out including subtle shots at the city of Detroit (via the Chicago Tribune):
“It’s the little brother (complex). The big brother wants to go out and play with his friends and the little brother is annoying. ‘Hey, can I go?’”
“No you can’t go Detroit Lions,” he quipped. “Sit back. Sit in your little city. Know what I mean? Fix your financial problems and all of that. You can’t come with us right now.”
“Right now they’ve got the best of us.” Marshall said. “They beat us. Twice. They swept us. What matters is when we see them in the playoffs. So it’ll be a great show. It’s going to be tough. But I guarantee it’s not going to go down like it did the first two games.”
For the first time since 2007 the Lions swept the season series with the Chicago Bears after yesterday’s 21-19 win from Soldier Field. So with the sweep and two game lead (with the tie breaker) over Chicago it seems natural that some Bears players might be a little bitter come Monday which certainly seems to be the case for wide receiver Brandon Marshall. In fact he goes a step further referring to the Lions’ defense as “borderline” illegal.
Here’s what he (Marshall) had to say after watching game film Monday:
“Kinda disgusting to see the D-line go out of their way to knock our quarterbacks down after every single play,” Marshall said on ESPN1000 AM. “It seems like it was game-planned. It was borderline — You can’t say that it was illegal.”
Marshall even adds in a little Michigan/Michigan State flavor into the batch as he referred to the Lions as a ‘little brother’ that’s “not better than the big brother in anything,”. He even vowed to see them (the Lions) in the playoffs.
