Brad Stuart returns to practice wearing a protective shield

After suffering a broken jaw on January 7th after taking a hit from Tom Kostopoulos of the Calgary Flames, Brad Stuart returned to a light practice with the team Monday wearing a protective face mask. This is according to Ansar Khan of Mlive.com.
Stuart, who lost five pounds on a prodominately liquid diet still has his teeth wired and elastic in his mouth limiting it’s movement. This comes after surgery on January 13th where doctors inserted two metal plates into his jaw.
“It was nice just to be around everybody and get a chance to work my way back into it,” Stuart said. “I probably did more than I thought I was going to do today. I didn’t think I was going to practice at all. I thought I was just going to skate.”
X-Rays still showed that his jaw isn’t totally head and it is expected that Stuart will still be sidelined for another two to three weeks.
Stuart also had some comments on Kostopoulos six game suspension…
“I was sure they’d do something and they did. There’s no reason for me to debate whether I think it’s long enough or not. It happened, he served his suspension. It’s over and I just move forward.”
