After suffering a broken jaw on January 7th after taking a hit from Tom Kostopoulos of the Calgary Flames, Brad Stuart returned to a light practice with the team Monday wearing a protective face mask. This is according to Ansar Khan of Mlive.com.
Stuart, who lost five pounds on a prodominately liquid diet still has his teeth wired and elastic in his mouth limiting itโ€™s movement. This comes after surgery on January 13th where doctors inserted two metal plates into his jaw.
โ€œIt was nice just to be around everybody and get a chance to work my way back into it,โ€ Stuart said. โ€œI probably did more than I thought I was going to do today. I didnโ€™t think I was going to practice at all. I thought I was just going to skate.โ€
X-Rays still showed that his jaw isnโ€™t totally head and it is expected that Stuart will still be sidelined for another two to three weeks.
Stuart also had some comments on Kostopoulos six game suspensionโ€ฆ
โ€œI was sure theyโ€™d do something and they did. Thereโ€™s no reason for me to debate whether I think itโ€™s long enough or not. It happened, he served his suspension. Itโ€™s over and I just move forward.โ€
