Michigan head coach John Beilein is further cementing his name amongst the legends of the University. That’s especially the case after tonight when the Wolverines moved to 17-0 with an 80-60 win over Northwestern marking the best start in program history. Better than the 16-0 start the team enjoyed during the 2012-13 season also guided by Beilein, something the Wolverines have also done once prior.
Not only that though, Michigan has also won 31 of their last 32 games with that only loss coming to Villanova in the National Championship Game.
Tonight, the Wolverines were propelled by a sharp shooting Zavier Simpson who scored a career-high 24 points while nailing down five three-pointers. Meanwhile, Michigan’s 7-foot-1 center Jon Teske also had a career night with 17 points as he along with Simpson upped their offensive games tonight. Not to mention if this is something that can continue with the duo of Teske and Simpson who are usually gritty defenders then the Wolverines are going to be incredibly difficult to beat as the season moves on.
With that in mind, Michigan will put their undefeated record on the line this Sunday when they play the Badgers in Wisconsin.
