Apparently the Nnamdi Asomugha potential suitors are down to four teams.

According to Vinnie Iyer of the SportingNews these four teams may be the Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans and Detroit Lions.

Of those four teams, the team that seems to be the long shot is the Detroit Lions due to budgetary reasons.

“As Sporting News’ top unrestricted free agent, it will require a deal worth $18-$20 million annually to land Asomugha’s services when the NFL signing period goes in effect soon after the lockout ends,” Iyer writes. “A team source told the Detroit Free Press that’s not a salary range the Lions can afford.”

So who’s the favorite then? Iyer believes that the favorite may come down to what Asomugha wants more, money or his first playoff appearance.

“For a player who just turned 30 last Wednesday and has never made the playoffs in eight great seasons,” Iyer writes, “the [Packers and Eagles] are surefire paths to the postseason. The Eagles and Packers are looking at the championship window, while the Texans and Lions are just trying to crack it open.”

I believe you can add the Dallas Cowboys to the mix as well since Jerry Jones always seems willing to spend a bunch of money on free agents.
