I’m sure plenty of New York fans can remember former Yankees pitcher Kevin Brown punching a wall and injuring his hand back in 2003.

Well here is another memorable moment for New York fans where a star athlete injures themselves out of frustration.

After a loss to the Miami Heat in round one of the NBA playoffs, Amar’e Stoudemire punched a fire hydrant in the locker room, injuring his hand and needing stitches.

Here is what Stoudemire had to say after the incident on Twitter…

@Amareisreal: I am so mad at myself right now, I want to apologize to the fans and my team, not proud of my actions, headed home for a new start

Stoudemire scored 18 points on 6-9 shooting to go along with 7 rebounds but his team fell short losing to the Heat 104-94 and falling behind in the series 2-0.
