With Jahvid Best out for at least the first six weeks of the regular season, Kevin Smith unable to stay healthy for an entire season, Keiland Williams not being a top of the line back and Mikel Leshoure suspended for the first two games of the regular season the Lions certainly have a chaotic running back situation to say the least.
After dealing for secondary depth Monday by acquiring CB Kevin Barnes from the Washington Redskins, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports tweets that the Lions may not be done dealing and that their next target could be a running back.
Lions traded for CB Kevin Barnes Mon and may not be deal dealing. Teams say Detroit GM Martin Mayhew making calls looking for a RB

Now despite there being free agent running back options available like Ryan Grant and Joseph Addai it looks like Lions GM Martin Mayhew will attempt to solve the problem via trade as La Canfora suggests.
There has obviously been some buzz surrounding Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew however going down that road still seems like a long shot. More logical solutions to the problem could include Knowshon Moreno (on the bubble in Denver) and Chris Ivory (in a similar situation in New Orleans). It’s also possible the Lions target someone who is released this Friday.
