Detroit fans saw much of the same in Wednesday night as the Pistons fell 105-89 to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the home opener. This was certainly a disappointing showing against a team that had the worst record in the NBA last season.
What wasn’t disappointing though was the home debut for Pistons rookie Brandon Knight.
The first year point guard out of Kentucky, Knight had 23 points and was 10-of-13 from the field, with six assists in 29 minutes. Shooting guard Ben Gordon was also another bright spot for the Pistons as he was able to add 25 points leading all scorers on the night.
However the Pistons allowed the Cavs to shoot nearly 60% from the field and failed to generate any type of interior presence.
Eventually the Cavalier bench was able to break the game open while the Pistons struggled to get momentum of their own off the bench.
