Lions running back Jahvid Best is hoping that a second concussion this season won’t keep him out of action too much longer. According to the Detroit Free Press, Best expects to return to the field sometime this season. However because of the bye week he’s unsure when exactly his return will take place.

“I have no idea,” Best said before an autograph signing to open the Dick’s Sporting Goods store Saturday in Canton. “If this wasn’t our bye week I’d probably have a better idea, but right now everybody’s gone and everybody’s doing their own thing, so I have no idea.”

Best has yet to be cleared to return to the practice field after suffering a concussion back on October 16th against the San Francisco 49ers. After missing the last two games against Atlanta and Denver, Best maintains that he is “week to week”.

“I’m doing fine, I feel fine,” Best said. “It’s just a matter when we all get down and sit together how everything plays out. So it’s still kind of week to week.”

But Best said that should be some point in the second half of the season.

“Oh yeah,” he said. “As soon as possible.”

It was rumored a few weeks back that Best was being pressured by his family to sit out the remainder of the season because of his second concussion this season.

Best acknowledged that others have voiced their concern over his health however he maintains that this latest injury isn’t a concern to him and that he “feels fine”.
