With the Peyton Manning free agency tour in full swing, early reports indicate that the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos are the early favorites to land arguably the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.
Obviously if Manning were to land with either of those two teams various storylines would be created. For instance if the Cardinals happen to get him, what would that mean for Kevin Kolb and what kind of chemistry could Manning develop with Larry Fitzgerald?
However, an even more intriguing storyline would be what would happen to media darling Tim Tebow if John Elway were to land Manning?
It’s no secret that Elway is no fan of Tebow and the general felling among many is Tebow won’t take the Broncos to the next level. Plus Manning would be the perfect quarterback to ease the pain of most Broncos fans who purchased Tebow jerseys last season.
So if the Broncos would be willing to trade Tebow, now is the time to do it. Fresh off an NFL playoff run Tebow’s stock is high and the Broncos would probably like to get what they can for him rather than have him stand on the sidelines with a clipboard.
Early word is the Jaguars could be in on a potential deal for Tebow given his college success in Florida and the fact that Jacksonville could use him as a big marketing tool.
But there is always the chance too that Elway has Tebow watch and learn from one of the best in the NFL.
Is this a topic though that we should even be talking about?
Mike Klis of the Denver Post checked in with a source close to Tebow, who indicated that the QB remains “philosophical” about the organization being in the Manning hunt, but won’t comment on the matter until “after the smoke clears.”
At this point though with Peyton Manning involved, it seems that all possibilities could be in play.
