The stories that come out of the Olympics are sometimes pretty amazing. Take for instance Stephen Nedoroscik, the pommel horse specialist for Team USA who became an overnight sensation after his brilliant routine helped secure a bronze medal and the first men’s team gymnastics podium finish since 2008.

NBC helped add to the hype of Nedoroschik’s routine by including a countdown clock to their coverage which like the Twitter user below states was a “brilliant touch”.

Then when it was time, Nedoroscik entered the competition and completely nailed the event scoring a 14.866 while helping secure that all-important medal for the United States.

In the aftermath, Nedoroscik a Penn State alum called said the moment was the “greatest” of his life, adding “I kind of, in that moment, was like, ‘Alright, let’s run it back, then. Let’s go out there and do our thing,’ ” he said. “I have [coach] Sam Mikulak as just like, the greatest coach of all time. He’s up there, helping me keep the nerves in check. He knows exactly what to say to me. So when we got that chalk bucket, he kind of just settled me down and said, ‘You’re ready for this.’ I went up there, did my routine and during that dismount, I was just like, already smiling.”
