Lions to scout Terrelle Pryor

According to Mike O’Hara of Fox Sports Detroit, who cites sources close to the Lions, the team will apparently scout former Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor during his Pro Day workout scheduled for this coming Friday.

Fans however shouldn’t become overly excited or disappointed in the fact that the Lions will send scouts to the workout. O’Hara points out that its common practice for NFL teams to take a look at all possible prospects to evaluate their talent level.

Furthermore there is no guarantee that Pryor is included in the NFL Supplemental Draft which takes place on August 17th.

Pryor’s agent Drew Rosenhaus tweeted late Tuesday that he and Pryor are still awaiting a decision.

“We spoke with the NFL today and were told that no decision has been made yet regarding Terrelle’s eligibility for the supplemental draft,” Rosenhaus tweeted.

In three seasons at Ohio State, Pryor demonstrated tremendous athletic ability at the quarterback position. However there are serious concerns whether or not his game is transferable to the NFL. Former Florida QB Tim Tebow had a similar style of play while in college and continues to struggle at the NFL level.

Under supplemental draft rules, NFL teams would submit when they would select a particular player. If that team is awarded the player then they would have to forfeit that rounds pick in the regular 2012 NFL Draft. For instance, if the Lions would pick Pryor in the second round and they are awarded him in the second round of the NFL Supplemental draft then they would have to forfeit their second round pick in the regular draft the following year.
