Unless Chase Young were to fall to the Lions at three, there doesn’t seem to be much reason for Detroit to hold on to that third overall pick.

At least not with a front office who may be working under the ultimatum that you either at least make the playoffs or you can begin packing up your shit in Allen Park.

So, it would seem that the third overall pick is open to the highest bidder.

theScore:

“Open to any trades,” general manager Bob Quinn told Tori Petry of DetroitLions.com. “… The higher you are up in the draft, really the sooner the conversations begin. I have not had any trade conversations with anybody as of yet. Those usually tend to start in the combine in the hallway that we kind of roll through and we’ll see how that goes.”

Again, unless Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia will have life with the Lions even after another disappointing season and they’ve had a discussion with ownership on a longterm plan by taking Tua Tagovailoa at three then move back a few spots and accumulate more picks later on in the draft. They aren’t trading Stafford, his contract makes it almost impossible and he still gives the Lions the best chance to win now. Not to mention with the anticipated overhaul to their defensive line coming there are just too many holes that still need to be filled before the 2020 season begins.
