Well so much for DeMarcus Cousins joining the Lakers for a playoff run.
With the addition of Markieff Morris (who was recently bought out by the Pistons), Los Angeles waived the big man to make room for their new acquisition ending his tenure with the Lakers before it even really began.
After signing a one-year contract with the Lakers in July of last year, Cousins’ tenure in LA included a torn ACL during team workouts the following month and… that’s about it.
Having been one of the more dominant big men at one point, Cousins’ career has been somewhat derailed by injury as of late.
In January of 2018, he tore his Achilles which required season-ending surgery. Despite this, however, he managed to sign with the Golden State Warriors and didn’t make his debut with them until almost a year after his Achilles injury on January 19, 2019. But during Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinals, Cousins went down with a left quad injury. He ended up returning for Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Raptors but at this point was relegated to coming off the bench.
