Tigers Rumor Roundup: Furcal, Reyes, Fielder and Buehrle

  • Jon Morosi of FOXSports.com tweets that there are several teams interested in acquiring the services of infielder Rafael Furcal, most notably the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals. However there are a handful of clubs such as the Toronto Blue Jays, Colorado Rockies and Detroit Tigers who seem to be interested in using Furcal as a second baseman.
  • The Tigers still seem to be a team that is still hanging around as a potential suitor for free agent shortstop Jose Reyes. Tigers manager Jim Leyland however told Jim Bowden on MLB Network Radio (Twitter link) that, while he loves Reyes, “I don’t think we’re going to shop at that store.” The Marlins and Mets still are seen as the front-runners to get Reyes.
  • Any Tigers fans hoping the team goes after first baseman Prince Fielder, be prepared to fork over around $200 million dollars. According to reports, that’s what the free agent slugger is demanding on the market.
  • It’s no secret that the Tigers need a left-handed starter in their rotation. My question is where’s the campaigning to get Mark Buehrle in the Old English D? He’s a good veteran lefty, he would benefit greatly from working in a pitchers friendly part like Comerica, he’s a quick worker and knows the division.
