Michigan head coach Brady Hoke said he still expects Vincent Smith to be the starting running back when U-M takes on San Diego State University from the Big House on Saturday.

โ€œI would think so,โ€ Hoke said of Smith, who led the tailbacks with 118 rushing yards against Eastern Michigan. โ€œFitz (Toussaint) had a good day yesterday, too. Both those guys ran the ball hard. (Thomas) Rawls ran the ball hard and he got some snaps in there. Weโ€™re still trying to find what that magic combination is.โ€

Hoke says that although he would like to find a true starting RB, the rotation will continueโ€ฆ

โ€œThere will be a point (of choosing one) but I canโ€™t tell you on the 21st of September that we know when that pointโ€™s going to happen,โ€ Hoke said. โ€œThereโ€™s some good things they all to some degree but we want that guy whoโ€™s going to play a perfect game.โ€

According to Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press, Hoke also expects linebackers Cam Gordon (back) and Brandon Herron (leg) to be available on Saturday. However Hoke doesnโ€™t believe that Gordon will start.
